How to Facilitate an Enterprise Business Agility (EBA) Seminar and Assessment

An Enterprise Business Agility Strategist (EBAS) or AgilityHealth® Facilitator (AHF) with EBA experience can facilitate an EBA assessment using the EBA Radar. If you are not yet certified, please learn how to become an EBAS.

Session Purpose and Outcomes:

Session Formats

Option 1:

EBA Seminar + EBA Assessment  (3.5 hrs) | ALL-in-ONE

If you are able to schedule a half-day session, you can use this format of delivering the seminar and pausing after each pillar for participants to complete the assessment for that pillar. You then review results and build a growth plan all in the same session.

Option 2:

EBA Seminar 90 min |  EBA Assessment  (2 hrs)

If you are unable to schedule a half-day session, you can use this alternative format of delivering the seminar and launching the assessment for participants to complete at the end of the session or afterward at their own time.

The follow-up session is 2 hrs dedicated to reviewing results and building the transformation objectives and growth plan for the next 3 months. Schedule this within 7 days of the seminar.

Option 3:

EBA Seminar  60-90 min | EBA Assessment  (2.5 hrs)

If you are not sure if the organization is open to an assessment and might only be interested in a webinar with an optional assessment, this format will be the best fit. 

Deliver a one-hour light seminar to engage and excite everyone. Offer the full 2.5 hr assessment as a follow-up activity.

  1. What to Send Participants When Scheduling the Session:
    1. Copy the EBA Seminar & EBA Assessment purpose, outcomes from the public pages, feel free to make edits/tweaks.
    2. Ask participants to watch these videos to prepare:
  2. Set up the EBA Transformation team inside AgilityHealth®: (10 min. per team)
    1. Complete the Company Setup form (if needed) so our team can create the company for you. Select the EBA Radar and any others you want to activate.
    2. Watch video #3 above on “How to Setup the EBA Team”... Remember you can set up ONE team or sub-teams if you have 20+ attendees.
    3. Remember to tag the members with the right Participant Groups so you can filter results later by LOB or other criteria.
    4. You won't need to add stakeholders for this assessment.
  3. Set up the EBA Assessment: (2 min. per team)
    1. Watch video #4 above on How to Setup and Launch the EBA Assessment
    2. On the last page, save the assessment as a draft and don't launch it until the day of your webinar or assessment session.
  4. Prepare for the facilitation of the 1/2 Day or 1 Day Strategy Session: (2 - 3 hrs.)
    1. Watch videos #1 and #2 above to prepare for the facilitation of the webinar and assessment.
    2. Review the EBA page and review the pillar pages
    3. Review the Seminar slides and watch the pre-recorded webinar on our EBA Overview Seminar page.
    4. Review the EBA Assessment questions for the EBA radar.

Facilitation Tips & Next Steps

  • Facilitation Detailed Guide: If you want a more detailed editable guide beyond the videos and resources on this page, please download this guide.
  • Analysis Discussion: When working with a larger group, you can have the group break into smaller groups by a line of business OR division and review the results of their assessment and have a healthy discussion. Each sub-team will identify 2 to 3 improvement opportunities. In this case please identify facilitators for the sub-groups ahead of time and prep them for this activity. This is a 10-15 minute activity and you can use Idea Board to brainstorm ideas.
  • Add Growth Items: Once you have the top gaps identified, help the group define Transformation Objectives (12 months) and acceptance criteria for the next 3 months/quarter.
    • Example Growth Item: We want to adopt outcome-based planning across our 5 portfolio teams. We believe that by < ACTION > for the <ABC persona> … We will achieve <GOAL> in the next <Quarter> … measured by
      • AC 1- Training on outcome/OKRs for our pilot portfolio ABC
      • AC 2- Schedule initial Outcome definition workshop for 3-year and 1-year outcomes with senior leaders
  • Next Steps: We typically recommend scheduling a follow-up EBA Strategy Session for the specific line of business intended for the transformation to build a detailed plan for implementing the objectives and defined outcomes.
  • Results Presentation: You can compile the results and assessment details in a presentation to be shared with the leadership team after the retrospective session. 

Virtual or Physical Room Setup

Virtual Meeting Setup:

  • Select your video & meeting platform (Zoom, MS Teams, WebEx ..etc)
  • Utilize Idea Board or set up collaboration tools for brainstorming and Q&A
  • Plan ahead for breakout rooms if you will have them
  • Ensure all participants have been set up in AgilityHealth correctly so they can access the platform to review results and build growth plans.
  • Test access to the tools above with an internal customer and other attendees ahead of time to avoid technical challenges during the session.

Physical Room Setup:

  • Small tables for group discussion and collaboration
  • Projector, screen and laptop/PC (to display assessment results during group discussion)
  • Supplies needed:
    • Sticky note pads, sharpie markers, flip chart marker
    • Post It flip chart pads and easels for each table
