Multi-Team Data: Radar Roll-Up View

Radar Roll-Up View
The Multi-Team roll-up view displays the average result for each team, from their most recent assessment. To view the roll-up radar, from the Team Dashboard, simply click on the team's icon.
Each line represents a team and the red line is the average across all of the teams. The intent is not to compare teams against each other, but to identify patterns and trends to identify where to direct coaching, training and process improvement efforts and remove impediments. If your organization is scaling agile using SAFe®, this is a good way to see how teams are doing across an Agile Release Train.
Team names may be hidden as a global setting for your organization. If not, you will see team names displayed by default but you can choose to hide them by selecting Hide Team Names. This option is helpful when you are presenting the information and want to keep the focus on the trends, rather than individual teams.

The radar roll-up view is a good way to get a sense of the overall maturity level for the group of teams/programs.
- What range do most of the teams fall in?
- Are the teams closely grouped or is there a lot of variation?
Many of our radars use Pre-Crawl, Crawl, Walk, Run, Fly as the maturity stages, while some do not have Pre-Crawl or use a High/Low or High/Medium/Low scale. To learn more about Pre-Crawl, Crawl, Walk, Run, Fly, visit the All About Pre-Crawl, Crawl, Walk, Run, Fly as Maturity Stages article.
These are some of the common patterns and trends to look for as you analyze the Multi-Team data in the radar roll-up view, and questions you can ask to find insights and think about where to focus your coaching efforts. You can also identify related competencies.

Now back to common patterns.
Inconsistent Scores: Teams are in varying levels of maturity and may have different needs
- Are there any common challenges?
- Is there something working (a best practice) for some teams that could be shared with other teams?
- Where is the most help needed?
Consistent Scores: Teams have a common pattern for maturity and areas of strength and opportunity
- What could we do to make a difference for all/any of the teams? (Notice any areas that have a lower average score for all of the teams).
- Are there any “low hanging fruits”/quick wins that we could resolve quickly?
The Outlier: One or a few of the teams have a very different pattern showing up (much higher or lower)
- What organizational factors could be influencing this?
- What does this tell us about where to focus our efforts?
Using the green arrows on the left side of the screen, you can filter by Tags, Participant Group and Roles to gain deeper insight into the data, by finding differences and patterns that are not visible in the averages at the team level.
Note: The available tags, participant groups and roles will depend on how the data was set up for your organization and the process in place for data entry. If you are not seeing the data you would like to see, work with your Company Admin to Set Up and Manage Tags differently.
Select a Single Role or Participant Group
When looking at a single participant group or role, each dot represents an individual response. Consider whether the number of dots makes sense, given the number of people you would expect to see in that role or group, across all of the included teams. If the number of dots is much higher or much lower than you would expect, then the data may not be valid for a particular group or role, due to missing or inaccurate data when team members are added to AgilityHealth®. It’s important to make sure the data is representative before you draw conclusions and share results from filtering.
Note: You can work with your Company Admin or Scrum Masters/Team Admins to add/update the role and participant group data.
If the number of dots looks right, then notice whether they are grouped closely together or spread out. This tells you whether individuals in the selected group or role feel the same or differently about their team’s maturity across the competencies.
Select More than One Role or Participant Group
Select more than one participant group or role to compare between them. The dots (individual responses) are not displayed when more than one is selected, to keep the display from being cluttered. Identify any areas of significant difference.
Tailor to Your Organization
Think about your organization and come up with questions that will help you to discover areas where you might need to focus your efforts, and then filter the radar to see what you can learn.
Here are some examples:
- How are developers feeling about performance measurements relative to those in a QA role? What factors might be impacting those groups differently? (filter by role and select these two roles)
- How do product owners feel about planning and value delivery relative to other team members? (select all roles and compare Product Owner response to others)
- Are there any differences in team dynamics by role? What might be causing this? (select all roles and focus on the competencies within Culture - Team Dynamics)
- Are there any significant differences between team members who are co-located versus those who are distributed? (filter by participant group and select these two groups)
- Are there any differences in the workspace by location? (filter by participant group and select each location, look at the workspace competency)
Remember that the intent is to support and help teams to grow and mature. As you drill down into the data, take care to avoid presenting or communicating information in a way that could lead to groups or individuals being rewarded or punished based on the information that comes from AgilityHealth®.
