Average Role Allocation Widget

SA_Role_Widget.jpgBased on the team(s) in the level you have selected in the Left Nav, the Average Role Allocation widget shows the average role allocation of the selected team's members, i.e. the number of teams each role is supporting by work type. The vertical axis represents the number of teams being supported. The color of the bar indicates if the role is over or under-allocated to the number of teams and is tied to a target number for that role and work type. The blue portion of a bar indicates the role is allocated appropriately, pink indicates the role is over-allocated and gray indicates the role is under-allocated.

Please note the following:

  • All roles assigned to a member of the team/level selected in the left navigation will be displayed in the widget. You can change what role(s) a team member is assigned by editing the team members
  • If you hover over a role for 2-3 seconds, a pop-up will appear with more information about the role allocation.

Here's an example of how the widget works:

Average_role_allocation.PNG

In the above widget, the selected work type of Software Delivery has the number of teams to support the Technical Lead and QA Tester roles set at 1 as the target in the settings for this widget. Company Admins and Company Feature Admins can adjust this number in Settings, which is discussed further down in this article. This widget represents nine teams that role up to a multi-team, which is the level selected in the left navigation.

Technical Lead

The bar for Technical Lead shows that role is supporting an average of 1.7 teams, which is more than the target of 1. The blue portion of the bar indicates the target number of teams this role should be supporting, while the pink portion of the bar indicates the over-allocation of the Technical Lead role.

QA Tester

The bar for QA Tester shows that role is under-allocated, which is illustrated by the gray portion of the bar. The allocation target is set to 1 for the role of QA Tester. This means each person tagged with the role of QA Tester should be supporting one team. In this instance, there are teams that have multiple role members tagged with the role of QA Tester, so the role is under-allocated because some QA Testers are supporting a portion of their team, rather than being the only QA Tester on a team.

To View Team Member Roles

To see which teams do or do not have a team member or members tagged with the role of QA Tester, for example, select each team in the left navigation and study this chart for that team. If the role appears in the chart, that illustrates the team has this role tagged to at least one team member. If the role does not appear in the chart, that illustrates the team does not have this role tagged for any team members. By looking at each underlying team individually, you can see which teams have an under or over-allocation of the role. A team that shows no roles in the chart may have a different work type than what is currently selected or no team members at all.

Change the Work Type

You can change the kind of teams displaying information in the widget by Work Type. Click the Work Type drop-down in the lower left-hand corner of the widget.

Settings for the Average Role Allocation Widget

Company Admins and Company Feature Admins are able to click the Settings icon on this dashboard to adjust the allocation for the number of teams each role should be supporting, by work type.

Once on the Settings page, a Company Admin or Company Feature Admin can choose to raise or lower the target number of team members that should be allocated to each role. Changing the Number of Team Members in Role number will affect every team with the selected Work Type.
